Who is this guy, calling his ace ahead of time, Babe Ruth ?

That's right!

What a crazy round and an awesome day. Our group had not even started to throw yet when Burt hit his ace on hole 10(sweet shot). Matt and I were kinda struggling through the first 6 holes(#11-16) and were only at -1.
Then we get to hole 17 and I joke about signing the bench for my Throwdown ace as well as having to sign the disc I had in my hand because I was hitting it again right then. Sure enough...it left my hand on a line and Todd says "is that it again?" and BANG!!!

Holy Freakin Shiznit! Back to back!! :o WTF?!!! I LOVE HOLE 17!!!!!!

From there we picked it up and and birdied 9 out of next 10 holes we played including ace runs on holes 6 and 8. On hole 6 I hit chains dead center hard and it spit out under the basket. On hole 8 it looked good the whole way and it hit the bottom of the basket just barely short but by far my best run ever at aceing it. I got "in the zone" and dialed in like never before and wow it was a blast. Thanks TP and David for taking part in the fun and for the support and encouragement during the round. In the end we ran out of steam and lost to Burt and Jake in a two hole playoff.

Until next time...

WOW sounds like y'all have had a great doubles series this Summer. We have had great turnouts, aces and a new course at the Ritz Carlton at Bachelors Gulch. That's right 18 holes, Valet parking, rock star. We have been holding doubles on Tuesdays and on Fridays, with good turnouts on both days. Probably not going to make it back this fall, I will miss Autumn disc gold in the Appalachians. If anyone wants to come out, let me know I'll put you up. There are some great courses in my area including Conifer, a top ten rated course which I can attest to, it reminds me greatly of Ashe Park.
A great Summer for Disc Golf.

RESULTS FOR 8/19

David / Trey 51
Kyle / Scott 52
Chris / Sloan 55

We had Mr. Trey Williams in the house. Finished 3rd in Am Worlds this yr! (Sorry Trey, had to do it)
Since there were just six of us we played evens long for a par 58. It rained a couple times, while on
17, then 6-8. No down pours though, or storming! No aces either. Paring 8 long in limited light and
rain was interesting, not to mention exciting. GREAT ROUND GUYS!!

Results from 9/2/2010: 9 players, great weather, short tees

ACE!!! -> Hole 16 -> DQ $50! :D

42 Kirk & DQ $24
44 Chris & Todd P. $12
48 Harrison & Burt
51 Blake & Sloan
56 Kyle (cali)

It was another awesome round of weekly doubles at Ashe Park. We had a perfect day to throw and the disc gods were with me once again as I got the craziest ace on hole 16. I threw my Coyote strait and hard right at the basket but it looked a little low and whapp! All of the sudden the disc is in the basket without moving the chains...???!!!

I yelled "no way!" in disbelief and laid face down on the tee pad freakin out on what just happened. It felt weird but great.

I was confused on how the disc went in moving that fast and did not hit any chains. We wondered if the disc some how squeezed through the side of the basket or just smacked the front and flipped in real quick? Still not really sure what happened but it counted and helped Kirk and I to go on and throw a smoking (-15) for the round!

Thanks again everyone for coming out and we will see you next week!

...still drawing at 5:30 and ace pool is now at $51. 8)
